Summer at Tropical World
Discover the beauty of butterflies this summer …
19 July to 31 August
The butterflies are taking over again this summer, and we’ve something for everyone to enjoy while finding out about these beautiful creatures and their habitats.
We’re taking part in the Big Butterfly Count 2025 (19 July to 10 August) starting with a special weekend of activities on 19-20 July, inside the zoo and at our Wildflower Meadows in Roundhay Park (weather permitting).
The Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire team will be on site with lots of information on these fascinating creatures. Pick up your FREE copy of the Butterfly ID chart and head down to the Wildflower Meadow to record the number and type of butterflies you spot in a 15-minute slot - don’t forget to submit your sightings!
The butterfly theme continues throughout the summer holidays, so why not enjoy a trip to Tropical World, where our indoor zoo is dry and cosy whatever the weather and you’ll have a fabulous family outing.

We’ve lots on offer:
