Life cycle stages:

Egg

Depending on the species, eggs can be round, oval, cylindrical, smooth or wrinkled.

Pupa (chrysalis)

Inside, the caterpillar is rapidly changing.

Adult (butterfly)

When it first emerges, the wings are wet and folded.

Larva (caterpillar)

A fully grown caterpillar can be over 100 times larger than when it emerged from its egg!
